Treat Accessibly - Lets make Halloween accessible

Your RE/MAX Dynamique agency is proud to contribute to this initiative which promotes accessibility for children with disabilities at Halloween. “Treat accessibly” is a social initiative to make Halloween accessible and inclusive for people with disabilities. The grassroots movement began in one Ontario family's home in 2017 and since then, 40,000 homes participated in giving out treats for Halloween in a way that was accessible for everyone.

In fact, many children and parents are not able to fully enjoy trick-or-treating because of a disability. This limits the number of doorsteps they can visit to collect candy. The Treat Accessibly movement aims to think of this minority by mobilizing the population to act more inclusively.

Our FREE lawn sign promoting this initiative is available to be placed on your home’s front lawn. It is a symbol promoting an accessible and inclusive Halloween. One that tells families in your neighbourhood that if their child has a disability, they are welcome to experience Halloween without obstacles at your home.

Citizens who want to join the Treat Accessibly movement can get a free “Accessible Trick or Treating” sign from their local RE/MAX office or broker.

Treat Accessibly – Let’s make Halloween more inclusive

On Halloween, differently abled trick-or-treaters will see your sign and know that you’ll be distributing candy outdoors, in a location that’s easily accessible for them. As a bonus, this setup also facilitates social distancing, which is especially great for children and families whose handicaps might make them immunocompromised.

Each year, 400,000 children in Canada identify with having a disability that may prevent them from Trick-or-Treating with their siblings and other kids because of something as simple as stairs.
